10 Dec Christmas to spark online shopping frenzy
This Sunday is forecast to be Australia’s busiest online shopping day ever and this month the biggest yet for online purchases.
The predictions come from leading online commerce enablers eBay, PayPal and Australia Post.
PayPal predicts this week will be the busiest online shopping week Australia has ever seen.
About 2.3 million Australians are expected to visit eBay.com.au on Sunday, a 26 per cent increase over last year’s busiest online shopping day.
The company expects this will result in 300,000 items being sold on the day, a 17 per cent increase on December 11, 2011.
The online sales will also boost Australia Post’s activity.
It expects to deliver half a million more parcels across the country next week.
Last year, Australia Post delivered an additional three million parcels in December.
